Sounders Insider

Notes: Hahnemann says he may stay a while

I'm running a little late with Sounders news today, as the Hope Solo availability immediately followed Sounders training.

However, some highlights:

Supplemental draft picks Kevin Olali and Jennings Rex joined preseason training today at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila. Lebogang Moloto is expected to arrive this weekend. The arrival of the top two picks has been delayed: Will Bates due to injury and Kevin Durr due to obligations with the Air Force Academy.

No. 2 goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann, 40, said he isn’t certain this will be his final professional season.

"I don't really like to think of it like that," he said. "I'm having fun now. Well, the first two days my body was kind of rejecting this whole idea. But it's settled down now, the third or fourth day in, and training and diving around again. The first day, my body wasn't happy with it, but now a couple of ice baths and a couple of days in between and the body's getting used to it again, and it's fun. I love training. Today we were working hard. I don't dread it. That's the good part. As long as I enjoy coming in and the body is good and they want me here, I'll be here."

MLS’ affiliation agreement with the third-division USL PRO league is a good thing for the development of young players, Sounders coach Sigi Schmid, reserves-team coach Ezra Hendrickson, and youth development director Darren Sawatzky agreed. However, the club is still assessing how fully it will take advantage of the agreement in the coming season.

The club shifts to the Seahawks training facility in Renton Friday for fitness testing.
