Ianni out 4-6 weeks with foot fracture

"The MRI, I can’t tell you what bone it is. He’s got a slight fracture there," Schmid said. "So, it’s going to take a while – I think four to six weeks was the first thing I heard. … We go on. Like I said, I think we have some internal options obviously to look at in terms of players who could play there. If something looks right we won’t ignore it. But certainly it’s something that we have to look at the long haul. We can’t just focus on what’s going to happen at the beginning of the season or what’s going to happen for our first series of games. We want to make sure the team’s right for the long haul, the team’s right at the end of the season. We can’t do something that maybe solves an immediate problem and creates a longer-term problem."

In other news from today's practice:*Lamar Neagle rejoined the club after his trade from Montreal. I'll have a new blog post on that soon.

* The club ended its first local segment of training. They fly out to Arizona this afternoon and begin a week of training at Casa Grande tomorrow.

* Schmid said the club is close to arranging a friendly in Arizona next month against a Mexican club in advance of the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals against Tigres.
