The Sounders have concluded Tuesday training -- the first of four straight days of practice leading to the MLS season-opener Saturday at home against Montreal.
"It’s good getting back home," coach Sigi Schmid said. "The guys had a day off yesterday, I think that was important. The work at practice today was good. The spirit of the team was good."
"We're as ready as we’re going to be. We’ve had good results in preseason, but that doesn’t matter. Sometimes things can go topsy-turvy on you that way. But I feel good about where our team’s at. I think the team feels confident, which is important. Obviously, we want to get off to a good start. We’re at home, we’re in front of our fans, so we’d like to get the points in this first game."
Brad Evans on game week: "We were in Diamond Cup and we played some quality teams. It was Saturday-Wednesday, Saturday-Wednesday, and we’ve been in the rhythm for a while now. So we’ve been in that game mode of game-train-train-game-train-train. It’s good to have that first competitive match coming up, and I think guys are hungry. The most important thing is I think guys are ready to go. … I think we’re ready."
