Lyndsey Patterson, a midfielder and native of Puyallup, Wash., has signed for Seattle Reign FC, pending approval by the National Women’s Soccer League. Per club and league policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
“Being from here I always wanted to play professional soccer and to play in front of my family of friends is a dream come true,” said Patterson. “I love the fans here and the great atmosphere they create. It’s an unbelievable feeling to be joining the Reign FC.”
Patterson, 30, has played five seasons for the Seattle Sounders Women since 2006, scoring a total of 10 goals in 33 appearances. She joined the Sounders Women in 2012 following three years in the WPS with Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Atlanta.
“Lyndsey is the type of player that you'll see on any given day cracking the ball against the wall alone at Starfire Sports Complex,”said general manager Amy Carnell. “It’s that passion, dedication and work ethic that makes her great addition to Reign FC.”
As a collegian Patterson was a stalwart for Tennessee over four seasons in Knoxville, finishing her career with 20 goals and 25 assists. She was named to the All-SEC team three times and led the Vols to a combined four regular season and postseason tournament titles. They advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 in each of her final three seasons.Patterson is in her fourth season as a coach with Pac Northwest.
Seattle Reign FC is one of eight founding members of the NWSL. U.S. National Team stars Hope Solo and Megan Rapinoe were among seven international players assigned to Seattle in the allocation process. Laura Harvey is the head coach. Season tickets are now on sale at www.seattlereignfc.com.
