Sounders GM Adrian Hanauer wouldn't take questions on the Obafemi Martins reports out today. However, he did offer this statement on the situation:
"I'd rather not comment on anything at this time. We have nothing official to announce. We'll obviously announce something if and when it come to fruition. But as I've said from the beginning, Oba is a player that we've been circling the wagons on and there seem to be a number of indicators that suggest that he might be playing for Seattle at some point in the near future, and I'm not going to deny that those indicators are out there, and that it's possible that we may have a new forward coming into the team at some point here in the near future."
Coach Sigi Schmid also couldn't confirm anything, but he took a few questions:
On what he could report: There’s a lot of things that get Tweeted in this world. You don’t know for sure. Once it’s signed, sealed, delivered and I see a smiling face here, then I’ll know for sure.

On possible timing of arriving/playing: There’s always the work-permit issues, and you’ve got to get the transfer documented and the registration, so all that needs to happen.
On what such a signing could mean: When you’re trying to add a designated player, you expect him to help your team. So, he’s a player who’s been able to score goals in some of the toughest leagues in the world, so now if he can bring that talent here – he’s fast, he’s left-footed, he’s got some explosion to him. I think the crowd will enjoy him.
