* Midfielder Mario Martinez did not make it back for today's session, as his plane out of Honduras was delayed. He is reported en route again. However, that seems a relatively minor matter as coach Sigi Schmid indicated yesterday that Martinez probably wasn't in the mix for RSL anyway.
* Recently signed midfielder Philip Lund has returned to Denmark to get his P-1 visa.
* Finally, coach Sigi Schmid wasn't at training, choosing to leave for Utah ahead of the team. First assistant Brian Schmetzer ran things in his absence and afterward gave this assessment of RSL, which is off to a 1-2-1 start this season after parting company with long-time players such as defender Jamison Olave, midfielder Will Johnson and forward Fabian Espondola.

“They play the same system: They’re still 4-4-2 with the diamond,” Schmetzer said. “It’s different personalities, for sure, so it makes them look perhaps a little different. But the quality that they show in their possession and how they play and line up: All that’s the same.”
