Sounders general manager Adrian Hanauer said today that the club is leaning away from bringing in a big-name international club for a friendly match this season.
Hanauer stopped short of saying that was 100 percent certain, but it sounds like that's the plan unless something unexpected pops up.
"I think we're headed toward not doing a friendly this summer," he said. "I'm not going to give you 100 percent, but that I think is the likely outcome, is that we're happy with the Gold Cup, with having the U.S. qualifier, a lot of our fans have said we'd rather have our team focus on our league play; and even if we brought a big team they'd rather see us have that big team play against some other team from another country and not muck up our summer with another fixture. So at least this summer, I think that's where we're headed. And the if we assume it goes down that way, we'll figure it out next year."
