The Sounders FC U-23 will face the Washington Crossfire FC during a special Friday night double header at Starfire Sports Stadium. The Sounders U-23 8:00 p.m. kickoff will follow a 5:30 p.m. Sounders Women match against the Colorado Rush. Then on Sunday the Sounders U-23 will take on the Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-23 at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Stadium in Sumner, WA.
The Sounders U-23 will be looking for their first league win in what is proving again to be a very competitive Northwest Division of the PDL. With only three league matches played, the Sounders are 0-2-1, finding themselves in a three-way tie at the bottom of the division with one point. However, things can quickly change, and the Sounders will look to get back on track with their next five matches in a row coming at home.
First up is the Washington Crossfire, who are also looking for their first league win of the season. The Crossfire opened their season with back-to-back home matches against the Kitsap Pumas, playing them to a record of 0-1-1. Last season the Sounders and Crossfire faced each other three times. The Sounders U-23s outscored Washington 6-1 in the series winning all three matchups. The Vancouver Whitecaps U-23 have played four league matches so far this season. Their record of 2-2-0 has earned them six points and is good enough for third place. Vancouver will also be playing Friday night, as they take on the current first place club, Victoria Highlanders FC. Most recently the Whitecaps U-23 are coming off of an impressive 5-1 victory over the North Sound SeaWolves FC.
