Schmid: Carrasco deferred to Oba on PK

Here's what Sounders coach Sigi Schmid had to say today about Obafemi Martins' taking the penalty kick near the end of the game at Tampa Bay -- the low/left kick that was saved, allowing the Rowdies to go on for a 1-0 win that knocked Seattle out of U.S. Open Cup.

"At the end of the day the players decide on the field who’s going to hit the PK. We always right down before the game who is in line to hit the PK. Obviously, Oba wasn’t on that list because he wasn’t starting the game. When the penalty kick situation came up (Servando) Carrasco was on that list. He had the ball. Obafemi and him had a discussion. He decided to let Oba take it. I’m going to respect Servando’s decision and Oba’s decision on the field. Sometimes you make penalties, sometimes you miss them."
