The 2nd half was choppy affair, with 28 fouls recorded in the first hour of the match.
The best chances of the 2nd half didn’t come until the final five minutes. The Timbers picked up a ball on the Sounders side of the field, where Alex Walters released a pass for Clark Phillips. Immediately on the other end, in the 87th minute, the Sounders got the ball into the box, where Eli Gordley deflected a clearance right in front of goal. Glen Paden ran onto it near the penalty spot, with time for only one touch, but his shot was scuffed for an easy save.
In extra time, the Sounders had one final opportunity. With players pushed forward, center back Josh Phillips was played in on the left channel.
