Martins seems ready, Gspurning could be in 18; GM "working actively in a couple of different areas"

The Sounders are done with training for another day. The primary issue seemed to be the improving health of the club.

Obafemi Martins trained fully, and seems ready to return to the lineup Sunday against Chivas. Michael Gspurning did some work without his forearm protection and coach Sigi Schmid said it's possible Gspurning could be available in a reserve role Sunday vs. Chivas. Djimi Traore and Andy Rose were full in.

A little further out, Schmid said Eddie Johnson is expected back from national team duty on Monday and should be available for FC Dallas' visit on Aug. 3. Steve Zakuani could be ready in two or three weeks.

We also got some time with general manager Adrian Hanauer, who summited Mount Rainier for the first time this week. He said the club is working on a couple of things as the transfer window heads down to its final couple of weeks.

"I'm never confident that we're going to get something done until it's signed, sealed and delivered -- just because I've been doing this enough to know that if you're too confident in this stuff it's going to fall apart on you," he said. "We're working actively in a couple of different areas. I am hopeful that we will get something done, but I think 'confident' is probably a little too aggressive (of a word)."
