The Sounders went through light training in Houston this afternoon in temperatures in the low 90s.
Here's some of what coach Sigi Schmid had to say on the eve of Seattle's match with the Dynamo: On the implications of heat, even with 8 p.m. CT first kick: “It’s different. Obviously they’re a team that’s used to playing in this, and we’re a team that doesn’t normally play in this. But it’s better to play at 8 o’ clock than to play at 3 in the afternoon.”
On the Dynamo: “They’re a dangerous team. They’re always good at set pieces because of Brad Davis. Up front Will Bruin has been a handful. Barnes has played well. When Boniek Garcia and Davis are both on the field, that’s something that concerns you. There’s a lot of energy from Clark. Moffat’s got that good shot from distance. There’s a lot of things. They’re a team that always figures out how to stay in a game and be in a game to try and win a game.”
On Obafemi Martins departure for family matter: “Yeah, we talked. He was in yesterday for treatment and I said after the treatment yesterday he could leave. (He’s expected back when) we start training on Tuesday.”

On knowing (and sharing) keeper plans between Gspurning and Hahnemann: “I won’t share. I know them. I know them, but that’s for me and them right now.”
On making do without Johnson or Martins: “It’s still a hardship because those two guys are very important players to our team. So with Oba being injured and Eddie being out on the yellow cards, our options up front are a little bit thin. Neagle has played up there, so he pushes back up there. We’ve got Clint obviously who can play as that second forward, so that gives us two options there who are good options for us for sure. But then if we have to go to the bench and so forth, it’s a little thinner from that point on.”
On Brad Evans after national team duty: “He came back OK, but it’s a tight turnaround, a long flight for him to get back. We just want him to go easy today and see how he feels. We’ll talk tomorrow and then we’ll make a decision whether he’s a guy who starts for us, comes off the bench for us. We’ll see.”
On Dempsey’s ability to go 90: “Some guys are going to have to go 90, so he might be one of them.”
