Cascadia Cup coaches Sigi Schmid and Caleb Porter are meeting with the media today in advance of the Sounders-Timbers match Sunday at CenturyLink Field.
Before, Schmid spoke to Seattle media, saying Obafemi Martins, Djimi Traore and Osvaldo Alonso all trained today and all could be ready to "contribute" Sunday.
Schmid also said recently signed Blair Gavin was signed last week more with 2014 in mind. We also got some time with Gavin, who seems extremely grateful to be in Seattle. He says he expects to be used at center mid.
Porter says he's been pleased with Timbers' consistency overall. Sights Wednesday's RSL match as a disappointment where they feel they left points on the table.

He says they're aiming to turn those many draws into wins, but also that those would have been losses last season. Won't quite say team is ahead of his expectations at this point however. Says higher vision was set from Day One. Another key issue was hitting on key personnel decisions while creating an identity and style of play. Also says the strength of the team is in the team and notes "We don't have a Clint Dempsey."
Says lost of Diego Chara to acumulation will be felt, but he doesn't think five yellows this deep into season isn't bad given the way Chara wins balls.
I'll be back with other highlights from the coaches.
