Dempsey-Bradley marks turning point for MLS?

On the eve of Seattle's home match Saturday vs. Toronto FC, Sounders coach Sigi Schmid today raised the possibility that the pairing of Clint Dempsey on one said and Michael Bradley on the other could one day be remembered as marking a time of significant change -- of improvement -- in MLS.

“The dynamics of the league have changed, and it speaks well of the league that we’re moving forward in that direction,” he said after Sounders training today. "You see how this thing plays out, but years down the line people are going to look back – I think – on 2013 and Clint’s return, and 2014 with Bradley coming back as maybe a time point when the league changed a little bit in their direction and in their competition pattern for American players.”

On health issues, Schmid indicated that Osvaldo Alonso (knee) should be ready to go, but that Leo Gonzalez (groin) and Tristan Bowen (quad) will need at least another week.
