Sounders react to Traore's bicycle kick attempt with awe ... and amusement

The Sounders' scored two goals Sunday at Montreal, but there was far more talk today about the near-miss from 34-year-old central defender Djimi Traore, who launched a bicycle kick that was perfect in every way except that it went straight at Impact goalkeeper Troy Perkins.

"I see the opportunity. I try," Traore said today. "I think I hit the ball too perfectly … right at the goalkeeper and he saved it, you know? I try sometimes in training, but my teammates always laugh when I try that kind of thing. Everybody was surprised – even myself."

Some of those teammates kept laughing Wednesday, although all were clearly impressed.

LAMAR NEAGLE: Amazing. Anywhere else that’s a goal. I think he retires after that one for sure … just walks off. He said he would do five laps in that one went in – but I don’t think he could do five laps."CHAD MARSHALL: You will probably not see me doing at … if you want to see me playing anymore after that. That was pretty impressive.

DEANDRE YEDLIN: I loved that. I was surprised though, because the ground was pretty hard at that field. I was surprised he got up from that without an injury.
