TACOMA, Wash. – Following a year of professional soccer with the Tampa Bay Rowdies, Jamael Cox has signed for the Sounders U-23 for the 2014 PDL campaign. Cox is a Tacoma native who played on the 2012 Western Conference Champion, Sounders U-23 side.
“Development is a winding road, not a straight line when it comes to players,” Sounders U-23 Head Coach, Darren Sawatzky said. “Jamael has had success at many levels and this summer should give him the platform to hunt the next level again.”
In his last stint with the Sounders U-23, Cox was an instrumental member of the attack, scoring important game winning goals against rivals, Portland Timbers FC U-23. He also scored in the Western Conference Championship game against Ventura County Fusion.
Cox is also a product of Seattle Sounders FC Academy. He has spent time on trial in Scotland and Germany, in addition to his time with the Tampa Bay Rowdies for the last two years.
Sounders FC U-23 is going into its third season and looks to continue its success on the field. Season Tickets for the 2014 Sounders U-23 season are on sale on SoundersU23.com for only $60. Instead of one ticket specifically associated with each match, with the Sounders U-23 Flex Pack, fans will receive eight tickets, and each of those tickets will be accepted at any match during the 2014 season. It's the ultimate deal in flexibility.
