Sounders designated players Clint Dempsey and Obafemi Martins combined nicely for the game-winning goal Saturday night at Chivas USA.
Here's some of what they had to say after:
SEATTLE SOUNDERS FC MIDFIELDER CLINT DEMPSEYOn remaining unbeaten on the road:“It’s always good to win, to move up the table where we should be. We put in a good performance tonight, another good performance away from home so we are happy.” On the comeback win:“We know our quality, we know that if we do concede that we have players that can create chances and get goals also. We´ll fight until the end, we have a lot of character on this team and I thought it was a good performance coming back and winning 2-1.” On him and Martins combining for second goal:“There was a few times we linked up really well, where I was able to put him though this time. He went close on one occasion and he scored on the other one so happy with him scoring, happy to contribute in the game and getting two assists. So it’s about keep going.” On the club’s performance:“With the three points, especially away from home, we are on a good run and it’s about keeping it going and we are happy with the fact that we’re moving up the table and we got to keep going. It feels good to be able to move up the table, like I said. We got to keep doing that, keep putting on performances like we did today and I think we’ll be fine.” SEATTLE SOUNDERS FC FORWARD OBAFEMI MARTINS Thoughts on the comeback:“We don’t know we just do our thing. Even though we conceive goals, we just keep going to the end. It happens that we won again today so we are happy.”
Thoughts on his goal:“As a striker I’m happy that I scored today but the important thing is that the team won. It didn’t work out today with me and Dempsey but he finally gave me the ball and we are doing well together. We just hope to continue like this because the season is too far.” Description of his goal:“I think I saw like three defenders or something close to [Clint Dempsey] coming in deep from the right side so the little space that I showed Clint to give me the ball, he saw it, he gave me the right ball and I finished it well. It was a good goal.”
