Sounders come from behind yet again for 2-1 win

For the fourth time this season, Seattle Sounders FC fell behind early before rallying to win tonight.

This time the Sounders conceded a 14th minute penalty kick to FC Dallas before storming back for a 2-1 victory at CenturyLink Field.

The equalizing goal came from Lamar Neagle in the 62nd minute, and the winner came from Kenny Cooper in the 88th minute.

Neagle’s goal came on his 27th birthday.

Cooper’s goal was Seattle’s seventh this season scored after the 75th minute.

The result extended Seattle’s unbeaten streak to six games and tied the franchise record of five straight wins.

Michel converted the Dallas (5-4-1) penalty kick, which was awarded after Brad Evans was called for a foul in the area, getting his legs tangled with Blaz Perez.

Evans was making his first start of the season at left back, filling in due to injuries to Leo Gonzalez (hamstring) and Dylan Remick (ankle). That was one of two defensive changes by Sounders coach Sigi Schmid, who also gave veteran Zach Scott his first start of the season, starting in place of Djimi Traore, who sat out the middle game of Seattle’s stretch of three games in nine days.

Seattle drew even on a sequence that began with a pass from Clint Dempsey to Obafemi Martins, who sent it on to Neagle at the near post.

Cooper’s goal also came after a pass from Martins, who leads Major League Soccer with six assists.

The Sounders (7-2-1) will train at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila on Thursday before heading to New England for their match against the Revolution at 3 p.m. Sunday.62' GOAL Seattle. Dempsey to Martins to birthday boy Lamar Neagle, who finishes at the near post. 1-1.
