Sounders win 1-0 on Dempsey team-high 11th goal. Remain atop MLS. Remain unbeaten (8-0-1) at home vs. Rapids. MLS-high 8th shutout for Frei. Barrett goal streak ends.

Seattle 15-7-3 and headed to Chivas USA on Wednesday. Rapids match franchise record with sixth straight loss and fall to 8-12-6.

I'll be back with notes and quotes.

75: First two Seattle subs; Neagle for Pappa and Barrett for Evans.

Attendance: 38,984.

52' GOAL Sounders. Dempsey volleys corner from Pappa into back of net. Sounders 1-0.

Second half: ... has begun. No changes either way.

Halftime: Scoreless. Sounders patiently worked ball around, but not in service of much so far. Shots 4-4; on target 1-0 SEA; corners 1-1; fouls 9-6 COL; duels won 52.2% COL; possession 61.4% SEA.

First 30: Possession heavily to Seattle -- and the better chacnes. But few solid chances either way, and scoreless.

First five minutes: Schmid had said Sounders might need patience today, moving ball around to move Rapids defense around. That's been the case so far.

First kick: ... has been struck. We're under way. Sounders in rave/blue; Rapids in maroon/white.

Lineups: For Sounders: Frei; D Yedlin, Marshall, Scott, Gonzalez; M Evans, Alonso, Pineda, Pappa; F Dempsey, Martins. That is the first repeated lineup of the season: same as at Portland last weekend. reserves: Sounders reserves: Ford, Anibaba, Rose, Barrett, Cooper, Neagle, Azira.

For Rapids: Nasco; Klute, Piermayr, Wynne, Burch; Hairston, LaBrocca, Powers, Serna; Buddle, Brown. Reserves: Irwin; Eloundou, Van De Casteele, Alvarez, Armstrton, Hill, Torres. Rapids starting keeper Joe Nasco to get his first MLS minutes. Played on loan to Atlanta.

Pregame: It is a drizzly morning in downtown Seattle, about two hours before the Sounders and Rapids meet at CenturyLink Field.

First kick is scheduled for 1 p.m. The game will be shown on Fox 13 and heard on the usual radio outlets. We'll also keep this blog going before, during and after the match, with additional updates and comments on Twitter @donruiztnt.
