SKC honored & Schmid recalls White House tour

Sporting Kansas City visited the White House today and met with the president in honor of their 2013 MLS Cup.

Sounders coach Sigi Schmid recalled the similar honor he enjoyed after the Columbus Crew's 2009 championship.

"Didn’t get one when we were with LA," he said. "We did go when I was with Columbus, after I had left them. So I got to meet President Obama and shake his hand on that one. Funny video if you could ever find it, because (assistant coach Ezra Hendrickson) was there and Ezra was trying to shake his hand, and he keeps missing Ezra’s hand, so he’s like in one row, and another row, and finally like in the third row … he got him. He got him eventually. It was a great experience, a unique experience … I’d love another visit."
