"He’s got to be a guy who is considered for defender of the year this year," Schmid said. "He’s got to be one of the candidates for that. He’s been one of the top defenders in our league, and he’s played the whole season: He didn’t miss for World Cup or anything like that. But his play I think definitely warrants that he’s in consideration for that award."
Marshall was asked about that, and if he thinks he's back to -- or ever left -- the kind of form he showed in winning the honor previously.
"I like to think I didn’t venture too far from that level," he said. "Obviously here in Seattle we have a lot more nationally televised games, and maybe people see me more than they did in Columbus, where we might only have one or two a year. So maybe it’s just we’re on national TV more."
