That result keeps the Sounders atop Major League Soccer: 60 points -- same as LA -- but holding the tie-breaker of 19 wins. That means Seattle wins Supporters Shield with split (or better) over it's home-and-away regular-season ending pair against LA. The first of those comes one week from today at StubHub Center.
Seattle can clinch the Shield with a win that day. The Galaxy cannot. Instead, LA must get at least four points out of its next two matches.
The Sounders are off today. But come 4 p.m., they'll probably be watching along with a lot of their supporters as the LA Galaxy visits FC Dallas. The game will be shown on ESPN2.
The Galaxy goes into the match even with Seattle in the MLS points race: 60 each, with the tie-breaker favoring the Sounders. This is LA's game in hand.
The meaning of the game to the Sounders was the topic of our TNT story from today's paper.
Here's a preview from Major League Soccer.
