Dempsey starts, Yedlin plays in USA draw

US SoccerHere's the report from U.S. Soccer:

U.S. Men's National Team forward and Boca Raton native Jozy Altidore stepped up in front of his hometown crowd with an early goal and the USA played Honduras to a 1-1 draw in front of 14,805 spectators at FAU Stadium.

Altidore's tally in the 10th minute gave his side the early lead. However, Honduras captain Maynor Figueroa found the late equalizer in the 86th minute and the U.S. settled for its second tie in four days after a 1-1 stalemate against Ecuador last Friday.

USA goalkeeper Nick Rimando remains unbeaten in his National Team career, moving to 10-0-2. He had two saves on the night.

Goal Scoring Rundown:USA - Jozy Altidore (Michael Bradley), 10th minute: Mix Diskerud stole the ball in midfield and pushed it forward to Clint Dempsey. Dempsey back-heeled a slick pass to Bradley, who found Altidore on the left side. Altidore aggressively took on Honduras defender Victor Bernardez one-on-one, cutting inside to his right and shot right-footed inside the near left post for the early one-goal lead. It was Altidore's third goal of the year and 24th of his career. USA 1, HON 0 (SEE GOAL)

HON - Maynor Figueroa (Mario Martinez), 86th minute: Honduras second-half sub Martinez whipped in a left-footed free kick from the right side, easily eluding the USA's two-man wall and finding Figueroa in the middle of the box. The Honduras captain fought off Jermaine Jones and redirected with the header past Nick Rimando to earn the equalizer. USA 1, HON 1 (FINAL)

Key Saves and Defensive Stops:HON - Luis Garrido, 21st minute: Alejandro Bedoya had a dangerous run down the left side to get behind Honduras' defense. That created some space to cross into the box, and Garrido came sliding in to intercept a ball that was destined for USA captain Clint Dempsey for a high-percentage scoring chance at close range.

USA - Nick Rimando, 45th+1 minute: Amid all of Honduras' first-half set pieces, Honduras' most threatening chance came in the run of play at the end of the first 45 minutes. Wilmer Crisanto had a perfect left-footed touch, crossing toward the top of the box to try and connect with Alberth Elis. Rimando alertly left his line for the interception and maintain the one-goal lead heading into halftime.

USA - Jermaine Jones, 50th minute: Making his first appearance at center back, Jones was tested by Honduras' speed on several occasions. He recovered well against Oscar Garcia, who appeared to have a couple of steps on Jones down the left side. Jones lunged in to break up the attack and instead allow Honduras to take its eighth corner kick of the match.

HON - Wilmer Crisanto and Victor Bernardez, 74th minute: Though the USA offense did not create many scoring chances in the second half, Mix Diskerud looked the most dangerous with an individual effort starting above the box. Diskerud saw a bit of an opening to dribble head-on, but Honduras' Crisanto and Bernardez did just enough to disrupt Diskerud and the USA.

USA - Jermaine Jones, 78th minute: Though sitting on a yellow card, Jones confidently made a sliding tackle against the speedy Romell Quioto, disrupting Honduras' attack in a similar fashion as Garcia's run earlier in the half.

USA - Nick Rimando, 90th+1 minute: The USA had a difficult time clearing the ball out of the box following a Honduras corner kick, and Honduras' Juan Rodriguez kept things active in his team's final third. Rodriguez fired a left-footed shot that went through the U.S. defense and Rimando stayed low for the clutch save.
