Game day comes: LA-Sounders at 2 PT

MLSplayoffs14It's been a long wait, but the Sounders and Galaxy begin their 1-vs.-2 series today at 2.

Here is our preview story, and below are some basics:

NO. 1 SEATTLE SOUNDERS FC AT NO. 2 LOS ANGELES GALAXY2 p.m., StubHub Center, Carson, Calif.TV: ESPN. RADIO: 770-AMHEAD TO HEAD: The Galaxy leads the regular-season series 6-4-5 overall. The teams went 1-1-1 this season, including a 2-2 draw in their only meeting in California. The teams have crossed paths twice in the playoffs, with the Galaxy eliminating the Sounders in 2010 and 2012. Seattle lost the road legs of those series by a combined 5-1.NOTES: This is the first game for the Western Conference championship. It is a two-game, aggregate-score series with away goals used as the first tie-breaker. The team that advances will play host to the New England-New York winner in MLS Cup at noon Dec. 7. … In the Western Conference semifinals, Seattle advanced past FC Dallas on a 1-1 aggregate score by virtue of its road goal. The Galaxy advanced with a scoreless draw at Real Salt Lake followed by a 5-0 win in the home leg. … During the regular season, L.A. scored the most goals in MLS (69) and allowed the fewest (35). … Robbie Keane led L.A. with 19 regular-season goals, while Landon Donovan led MLS with 19 assists. Obafemi Martins led Seattle with 17 goals and 12 assists.
