Sounders conclude training for Western final; final message to the team: Be smart

Coach Sigi Schmid again declined to give personnel updates -- although both Osvaldo Alonso and Lamar Neagle participated -- but here is some of what he did have to say:

On if they accomplished what was needed despite Friday rain and Saturday snow and cold: We just shortened training a little bit yesterday. Today we had already made arrangements to be able to train on this turf field, so training worked out exactly the way we wanted it today.

On if lingering cold might affect LA on Sunday: When you’re coming from warm weather to colder weather you feel like you can run all day. Some of their players might not have played a lot in cold weather, so maybe initially it might affect them a little bit, the bounces of the ball, the field might be a little bit harder. So that could impact the game, but it’s going to be one of those games where both teams are going to have to roll up their sleeves and battle.

On his message to the team: Our message to the team is to be smart. To make sure we attack together as a group and we need to get some goals, but to be smart and to not to put ourselves in a situation that we need more goals than we necessary need.
