This weekend the Emerald City Supporters & the Timbers Army continue their rivalry as their respective football clubs battle for the annual Supporters’ Cup. The slate of 3 matches will take place on Saturday, August 29th at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila.
The Men’s II team kicks off at 2 pm with the Women’s team following at 4 pm & the Men’s I team at 6 pm to close out the evening. Brian Schmetzer & Roger Levesque will be attendance as guest coaches. Preceeding the first match will be La Barra Fuerza Verde’s La Copita Youth Tournament at 10am. La Copita is a youth invitational tournament hosted by La Barra Fuerza Verde which was founded on the principles of community-building, supporting our youth & youth teams, & celebrating the sport of soccer. At noon, Special Olympics Unified Exchange soccer match between teams from Washington & Oregon will kickoff. Matches are organized by Special Olympics WA/OR as well as the Seattle Sounders FC & Portland Timbers MLS organizations.
On Sunday, August 30th, the ECS will continue their ongoing tradition of hosting the Brougham Block Party at Fuel Sports Bar. Located at the corner of Occidental Avenue & South Washington Street, this 21+ event will feature an outdoor beer garden, food, full bar, ECS membership & merchandise tables. Festivities begin at 9 am with a full breakfast menu for all Sounders fans (21 & over).
The Emerald City Supporters are the largest independent supporters group of Seattle Sounders FC, and can be found at the Brougham End of Century Link Field during every Sounders home match. Drumming, singing, waving flags, displaying tifo, and cheering on the Sounders, “The Brougham Faithful” create the best game day atmosphere in MLS.
