The Sounders will open the CONCACAF Champions League knockout rounds next year with an aggregate-score quarterfinal pairing with top-seeded Club America of Mexico.

Here’s the word from the Sounders FC:

Seattle Sounders FC learned today that it will face Liga MX side Club America in the 2015-2016 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfinals. Following the Wednesday SCCL Group Stage results, the Rave Green have secured the eighth seed in the Knockout Stage, while America - the defending SCCL champion - clinched the top seed.

The first leg of the Quarterfinals will take place February 23-25, with the second leg coming a week later on March 1-3. The Quarterfinal Round is made up of the eight teams that finished atop their respective groups in the Group Stage, then ranked one through eight depending on accumulated points. Sounders FC finished atop Group F with seven points (2-1-1), ahead of Vancouver Whitecaps FC and CD Olimpia, while Club America took Group E with 10 points (3-0-1).

Four MLS sides qualified for the SCCL quarterfinals, with Seattle joining D.C. United, Real Salt Lake and the LA Galaxy. The other four sides all came from Liga MX, as Santos Laguna, Tigres UANL and Querétaro join America in the tournament's final eight.

Sounders FC concludes its 2015 MLS regular season at home this Sunday against Western Conference rival Real Salt Lake in the club's fourth and final full-stadium contest of 2015. Kickoff is slated for 4:00 p.m. PT as part of MLS Decision Day, and the match is being carried on JOEtv, THIS-TV, Kiro Radio 97.3 FM and El Rey 1360 AM.
