It’s time to vote for the June selection for the TNT book club
Hello members of the TNT Book Club!
We are coming to the end of the month and will be now selecting the book to be read for June.
You submitted what you would like to read next and now is the chance to vote.
The choices are:
▪ “Dune,” by Frank Herbert, is a 1965 science fiction novel that is not only the inspiration for a park in Tacoma but has been made into a new film that is set to be released this December. It was the close runner-up from last month and by popular demand is now back. The first book in the saga is what we would be reading. It follows Paul Atreides and his life on the planet Arrakis with all the layers of conflict that exist there.
▪ “The Library Book,” by Susan Orlean, is a mystery story like no other. On the morning of April 29, 1986, a fire alarm sounded in the Los Angeles Public Library. Raging through the stacks, the fire reached 2,000 degrees and burned for more than seven hours. It was the largest library fire in the history of the United States. It destroyed 400,000 books, damaged 700,000 more and shut the library down for seven years. The mystery remains: Did someone purposefully set fire to the library — and if so, who?
▪ “The Ghost Collector,” by Allison Mills, follows Shelly who is seeing ghosts. It runs in the family, and it is their job to help the ghosts along their journey. Shelly takes a different path and begins hoarding the ghosts herself. However, there is one ghost missing that Shelly can’t find: the ghost of her mother.
Please vote by noon on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25.
We will then announce the selection, where to find the book (such as the local bookseller King’s Books) and when our meetings will take place.
Happy reading!
