Popular K-Pop group set to play at Tacoma Dome in June. Tickets available now

Twitter users in Pierce County might have noticed “Tacoma” was trending Tuesday morning. That’s because a popular South Korean musical group announced it’s making a stop in T-town.

The all-female K-Pop group TWICE will be performing at Tacoma Dome in June as part of its fifth world tour, titled “Ready to Be.” The music ensemble will begin its tour in South Korea in April before traveling to Australia, Japan and the United States the following months. The group will announce more tour stops in the future.

Fans on social media are excited. One reply on Tacoma Dome’s tweet says, “I WILL SELL MY KIDNEY TO SEE MY GIRLS.”

The Tacoma Dome’s event listing states that TWICE, which has more than 27 million followers on Instagram, is set to be the first K-Pop group to perform at an MLB or NFL stadium. As part of the tour, the South Korean group is set to perform at venues such as:

  • SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles

  • MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey

  • Globe Life Field in Dallas

  • Truist Park in Atlanta

Pop culture social media group Pop Base states that TWICE is one of only two K-Pop acts to perform at the SoFi and MetLife stadiums. The other is the popular all-male South Korean group BTS.

TWICE released it’s debut album in 2015. Recently, TWICE made news for its philanthropic endeavors. In response to the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, the nine-person group donated approximately the equivalent of $155,000 to NGO Save the Children for disaster relief efforts, according to K-Pop news website Soompi.

TWICE is playing at Tacoma Dome at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 16.

Fans can get tickets now on the dome’s website via Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan platform, which aims to sell tickets to people looking to attend a show and curb ticket reselling. Fans will have to act fast, as the Verified Fan ticket sale period ends at 7 p.m. March 8. If any spots remain after the Verified Fan sale period, Tacoma Dome will sell the remaining tickets at a later date. To learn more, visit Ticketmaster’s website.
