Artist will lead public sketching tour through DuPont
DuPont kicks off a month of history and heritage with Sketch Where You Live Day.
The free event Aug. 1 is part of DuPont’s Hudson Bay Heritage Days. Artist Mark Ryan will lead the outing, which begins at DuPont Public Library.
The public is invited to join Ryan and fellow artist Marjorie Sebesta to sketch DuPont scenes, both indoor and outdoor. No prizes will be awarded, but a selection of sketches will be displayed at the library. Sketching materials will be supplied at the event, which is sponsored by DuPont Tourism.
Ryan has already created a series of prints depicting Pierce County buildings and locations. The sketches include Ryan’s handwritten thoughts.
Prior to the outing Aug. 1, Ryan will sign prints and posters at the library at 11 a.m. The prints will be available for a donation.
Hudson Bay Heritage Days weekend runs Aug. 14-16 and includes a How The West Was Fun Heritage Bus Tour on Aug. 15.
Reservations for Sketch Where You Live Day are not required, but organizers would appreciate a head count prior to the event. Please call 253-582-4565 or email Dorothy@itsnevertoolate.com.
