Local music includes reggae, blues and jazz and piano

If you’re looking to get out and enjoy some local bands and music here’s what’s happening Wednesday.

▪ Cannon & the Lion of Judah, from Seattle, will be playing reggae at 8:30 p.m. at Jazzbones, 2803 Sixth Ave., Tacoma. Cover is $5 for more information call 253-396-9169.

▪ Take in the waterfront and free live music at C.I. Shenanigans, 3017 Ruston Way, Tacoma. Maia Santell and House Blend will be playing blues and jazz from 6-9 p.m. There is no cover charge. For more information call 253-752-8811.

▪ For a little grit and fun head out to Dawson’s Bar and Grill, 5443 South Tacoma Way, Tacoma, to hear Linda Myer’s Band play starting at 8 p.m. For more information call 253-476-1421.

▪ Acclaimed pianist, Robin Miller Richardson, will be playing piano from 5-9 p.m. at Joeseppi’s Ristorante, 2207 N. Pearl St., Tacoma. There is no cover charge. For more information call 253-761-5555.

FUSION Summer Art Event at Dumas Bay Centre

Come out and support Friends United to Shelter the Indigent, Oppressed and Needy (FUSION) at its Summer Art Event "Casa Boogaloo." Held on the Dumas Bay Centre, 3200 SW Dash Point Road, Federal Way, the evening will feature local artists, silent and live auctions, Havana inspired food and entertainment. Proceeds are used for housing and services for homeless families in Tacoma and Federal. It is 3-9 p.m. Wednesday, tickets are $65-$75. Riverwalk history tour explores South Sound history in Tumwater

Discover some of Olympia and Tumwater’s history by joining the Riverwalk History Tour. The guided walk is along the Deschutes River in Tumwater and is limited to 30 participants on a first come basis. There is tour at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday and a 3 p.m. tour Sunday. Meet outside the park office at Tumwater Falls Park, 110 Deschutes Parkway SW, Tumwater. It is free and open to the public. For more tour times go to olytumfoundation.org

Tony Award-winning performer Idina Menzel comes to the Paramount

Idina Menzel, Tony Award-winning actress and singer, will be performing in an 8 p.m. show Wednesday at The Paramount Theatre, 911 Pine St., Seattle. She originated the role of Elphaba in the musical “Wicked,” played the role of Maureen in “Rent” and is widely know for her performance of “Let It Go” in Disney’s musical “Frozen” Tickets for the show are $59-$140 and are available online at stgpresents.org or by calling 877-784-4849.
