Disney World's 'Iconic' New Announcement Has Fans Saying Today Is the 'Best Day Ever'
Disney World just got an iconic new update-and it has fans feeling super nostalgic.
The Orlando, Fla., destination's official Disney Parks Instagram took to the platform on Tuesday, April 14, to share big news with visitors: the beloved Mickey Mouse sorcerer hat is back and has found a home again at Hollywood Studios.
"Imagineers are hard at work, as the newly reimagined area opens to guests on May 26, 2026, with 'The Magic of Disney Animation' to follow in late summer 2026 ✨," the world-renowned amusement park announced in the post.
According to Walt Disney World News Today (WDWNT), Mickey's giant sorcerer hat was installed by crew members last night outside of The Magic of Disney Animation, a new version of an old attraction opening this summer. Inspired by the facade of the Roy E. Disney Animation Building in Burbank, Calif., the hat remains an iconic symbol, first worn by the legendary mouse mascot himself in the original 1940-released Fantasia. It was featured again in Fantasia 2000, per the Disney Wiki fandom page.

While an official opening date for The Magic of Disney Animation has yet to be revealed, the reimagined area is slated to include character encounters, an Alice in Wonderland-themed playground, and more, the outlet noted.
As for the 122-foot structure, it first debuted on March 28, 2001, at then-Disney-MGM Studios as part of the 100 Years of Magic celebration at the Walt Disney World Resort. In 2015, it underwent demolition, a project that took over 49 days to complete, Walt Disney World Magic reported.
It seems Disney fans have sorely missed it ever since.
Fans couldn't fly into the comments section quick enough, as they raved over the park update.
"The hat returns!!! She is risen!! 🙌" one rejoiced, while another was awestruck: "Was NOT prepared to wake up to my childhood being resurrected. 🥹💙🌙⭐️."
"This is so important to me omg," a third echoed, as a fourth scream-wrote, "WE'RE SO BACK 🥹."
Several more notes of elation poured in from Instagram users, who added things like, "Crying 🙌," "Ahhh that's so cool to have this back at DHS 😍," "mgm vibes are BACK 🎬✨," "YES FINALLY 👏👏👏👏 CHILDHOOD RESTORED 🔥," "Iconic photo spot loading 😍😍😍," and "I'm so excited it is back! The magic just keeps coming ✨✨✨."

Two more insisted the update completely made their day, chiming in with, "Needed this news today ✊🏼" and "BEST 👏 DAY 👏 EVER 👏."
Meanwhile, some were hesitant, dropping remarks about the hat's former placement and appearance. "I mean it was there years ago in the center of the park. Not sure why yall removed it. Weird," one pointed out.
"Now bring it back in its full glory!!! seeing the hat in the center of the park was much more of a park icon than tower of terror. I want the hat back as a park icon!!" someone else added, with another insisting that something feels off about it: "Awww it's kinda sad looking. Hoping it's nice in person. It's lacking that Disney magic touch."
Still, the resounding joyful reactions overcame the uncertainty: "Can't wait to see it 🤩 So magical!"
