Nike SB Brings the Iconic Brand to San Vansterdam in ‘skate.'

Skateboarding means a lot to me. As the child of a man who hit his midlife crisis hard-spending money on Alva and Santa Cruz boards, using all of his PTO to build a “Lords of Dogtown”-themed halfpipe in the backyard, and keeping FuelTV’s logo burned into our rear-projection TV-the sport became something of an obsession in my household.

I won’t sit here and say that I was particularly good at it, but I definitely admired skate videos and the general culture, bringing things like “Viva La Bam” and “Jackass” into my life at an impressionable young age. I even became a big Black Flag fan just because Mike Vallely was fronting it from 2013 to 2025.

That’s all to say that when “skate.” launched in early access last year, I already knew that developer Full Circle wouldn’t let me down. It had decades of content, locations, and legends to take from, especially with the popularity of the original “Skate” series.

So, it was a no-brainer when Electronic Arts invited me to check out the Nike SB Pop-up event for “skate.” a few days in advance. Not only does the event bring in various Nike SB cosmetics, but the team made sure to deliver so much more to make it among the most memorable events in-game to date.

Now, what is Nike SB? It stands for Nike Skateboarding, which technically started back in 1997, but didn’t gain notoriety as real skate shoes until the first Nike SB Dunk Low came out in 2004. Since then, Nike has released other shoes in the SB line, including Nike SB Angus, Nike SB FC, Nike SB Delta Force, and Nike SB URL.

The excitement might start with a Nike SB takeover within “skate.,” but the event is also the debut of being able to skate at night with Grom at Night. Within the Isle of Gromt, you’ll also be able to enjoy a complete Nike SB park takeover that features new challenges and cosmetics that were inspired by popular Nike SB videos. Completing challenges and tasks will reward players with accessories like the Nike SB Dunk High shoes and the Nike SB Logo Socks.

The Nike SB Pop-Up event will be going on until May 5, 2026. After the event ends, players will still be able to take the San Van Water Taxi using Rip Chips or skate. Premium to check out Grom at Night until June 2.
