Record Breaking Pop Star Surprised Fans with New Album Right before Highly Anticipated World Tour
It's a big day for Arianators everywhere.
Despite previously hinting that there would be no new music for quite some time and she would be focusing her energy towards acting,Ariana Grande is giving her music fans something new. After weeks of teasing that something was coming with studio shots and using the number "8" in captions on social media, the Billboard chart topping singer dropped her official eighth studio album announcement on Instagram.
Titled petal, the next album from the Wicked: For Goodactress will release on July 31st of this year. Grande described the album as "something that is full of life" about "growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging" in an official release. petal follows Grande's seventh album, eternal sunshine, which which topped the Billboard 200 and had the number one hits "Yes, And?" and "We Can't Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)."

Ariana Grande first burst onto the scene in 2009 on Nickelodean's Victorious playing the role of Cat Valentine. Her first album, Yours Truly, came out in 2013. She has recorded eight alubms in total (including the forthcoming petal): Yours Truly, My Everything, Dangerous Woman, Sweetener, Thank U, Next, Positions, and eternal sunshine. Most recently, Grande starred in the Wicked franchise as Glinda the Good, which earned her an Academy Award nomination. Her next movie, Focker-In-Law, is set for release later this year.
With over 90 million record sales worldwide, Grande is one of the best-selling pop stars of all time. Grande is the second most streamed female artist and fifth most streamed artist overall on Spotify. She has been nominated for 20 Grammys securing three over the span of her career.
This summer, Grande will embark on her first world tour since 2019. The Eternal Sunshine Tour will kick off on June 6th in Oakland, California and commence in London on September 1st. Grande will perform 41 shows on the tour.
