Elon Musk's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model Mom, Maye Musk, Goes Full Glam on the Red Carpet
Maye Musk, the mother of tycoon Elon Musk, knows how to work the red carpet with glamour at 77.
The model and dietician, who has graced the covers of countless magazines over the years, attended the Devil Wears Prada 2 NYC Cinema Society screening in New York and looked like a total fashion plate. Along with her trademark short white hair, which was brushed back into a soft wave, the glamour girl wore a sparkly black dress and a white fur coat for the fun occasion.
Was Maye Musk on the Cover of Sports Illustrated?
Yes! Back in 2022, Musk hit the cover of Sports Illustrated‘s Swimsuit Edition. Wearing an orange and tan one-piece bathing suit from Maygel Coronel, the model glowed in the special issue. She was joined byKim Kardashian, Ciara, and Yumi Nu to round out the 2022 issue.
"My first reaction was, I could never dream up something like that because why would anyone have a 74-year-old on their cover, especially in a swimsuit," Musk told PEOPLE of her covergirl moment on the iconic magazine. "I do think it's going to make women feel more comfortable in their seventies when they swim, as well as women in their twenties and thirties."
What Has Maye Musk Said About Aging?
In her 2019 memoir, A Woman Makes a Plan: Advice for a Lifetime of Adventure, Beauty, and Success, Musk opened up about how women shouldn't have to tolerate the negativity around aging.
"I went through different stages of my life where I was rejected, insulted, disappointed, and it just takes away your confidence," Musk told PEOPLE. "Then you just have to get over it. So here, I'm 74, I'm the happiest I've ever been, and I don't care, and nobody's insulting me because - you don't want to insult a grandmother. The point is, people are really good to me at this stage, but why should it take so long?"
