Secrets of Strixhaven Silverquill Influence Commander Precon Upgrade Guide
Magic: The Gathering's Secrets of Strixhaven Silverquill Influence Commander precon focuses on controlling combat through Auras while forcing opponents to attack each other. It can disrupt the board and manipulate combat, but it struggles to consistently close out games.
In this guide, we'll cover the best upgrades to improve its consistency, strengthen its control elements, and give it better tools to close out games.
Mesa Enchantress
Mesa Enchantress is the first upgrade I recommend adding to the Silverquill Influence precon. It's a creature that lets you draw a card whenever you cast an enchantment. This isn't the most exciting upgrade, but it provides a big card advantage boost to enchantment-focused decks.
Spellbook Vendor
Spellbook Vendor is another creature that's great in enchantress decks. It lets you create a Sorcerer enchantment aura token attached to one of your creatures. This gives you a cost-effective way to trigger both of Killian's abilities. Also, the scry 1 from the enchantment token it creates is great for filtering through your deck.
Eye of Nidhogg
Eye of Nidhogg is an aura that lets turns the enchanted creature into a goaded, flying dragon with deathtouch. This helps trigger Killian's abilities and helps apply constant pressure on opponents through its goad effect. It's also difficult to permanently remove since it returns to your hand if the enchanted creature dies.
Ondu Spiritdancer
Ondu Spiritdancer is another creature that supports Killian's gameplan well. When an enchantment enters the battlefield under your control, this creature lets you create a token copy of it. This is great for copying your most powerful enchantments and getting additional triggers from Killian. However, it can only do this once per turn, so you need to consider your options before copying an enchantment.
Mantle of the Ancients
Mantle of the Ancients gives the Silverquill Influence precon a powerful finisher. It's an aura that lets you return auras or equipment from your graveyard and attach it onto the enchanted creature. This is great for getting additional value from your enchantments that were removed throughout the game. It also buffs its enchanted creature's power and toughness based on how many aura and equipment are attached to it.
Upgrading Silverquill Influence is all about tightening your control over combat while giving the deck a clear way to finish games. With the right additions, you can turn its disruption into real win conditions instead of just stalling the board.
Focus on improving consistency and adding ways to close, and the deck becomes far more effective at locking down combat and converting that control into wins.
