Alysa Liu Makes Stunning Met Gala Debut With Sophisticated Hair Transformation
Alysa Liu can add another major moment to her list of achievements.
Fresh off her Olympic gold, the 20-year-old figure skating champion made her Met Gala debut at the 2026 event on Monday, April 4, stepping onto the iconic steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a stunning look from Louis Vuitton.
The deep red ruffled gown was paired with matching heels and elevated by one standout change from Liu's usual look: a sleek, elegant hair transformation. Her hair, which still featured her signature blonde and brown stripes, was styled in glamorous waves with two pieces sectioned-off in the front-making her hair appear much shorter at first glance.
Just hours earlier, Liu announced her new role as Louis Vuitton's newest House Ambassador on Instagram. For the announcement, Liu wore an all denim outfit, smiling for the camera while also posing with her skates.
"Stepping into this new chapter as a Louis Vuitton Ambassador is an honor and a privilege, especially for a figure skater to be recognized in this way, and I take so much pride in that," Liu wrote in the post, which was also shared by the company.
Her connection with the brand has been building, too. Liu was spotted attending the label's Fall 2026 show during Paris Fashion Week, hinting at what was to come.
And this isn't the first time Liu has been experimenting with her style. Known for her alt-grunge aesthetic, she recently surprised fans by leaning into a retro '60s-inspired look. In a social media post last month, she danced alongside singer Laufey, teasing their new music video while wearing a bold orange-and-yellow mini dress, tall boots, and a matching headband.

Fans loved the look, too. "The 60s look is so good on alysa WOW," one noted, while another shared, "I looove retro styles ahhh."
The clip was tied to Laufey's music video for "Madwoman," which officially premiered shortly after. Liu makes a cameo in the video, marking a full-circle moment after previously skating to the singer's music during her competitive career-including using Laufey's song "Promise" in her Olympic-winning performance.
