Paul Walter Hauser Shares Dramatic Side-By-Side Weight Loss Photos: ‘Dude on the Left Hated Himself'

Actor Paul Walter Hauser is showing off his weight loss transformation. However, he's also highlighting the mental transformation he's been through.

Hauser, 39, scored his first big role in the 2017 film I, Tonya. Since then, his career has skyrocketed, portraying Richard Jewell in the 2019 Clint Eastwood film Richard Jewell and scoring a Golden Globe-winning role in the 2022 true-crime miniseries Black Bird. He's also tackled comedy roles, like The Naked Gun and Balls Up. But as Hauser explained in a new Instagram post, one of the most challenging tasks he's tackled is his own health.

In a new Instagram post, Hauser shared a side-by-side photo of himself revealing his dramatic weight loss. However, it was the caption that noted the change he's been through.

"The biggest difference between these 2 photos is not the weight loss. It's the facial expression. Dude on the left hated himself. Dude on the right learned to love himself and make different choices. Never too late," he wrote in the caption.

What Made Paul Walter Hauser Lose Weight?

In 2024, Hauser lost 70 pounds after ditching the "Cali sober lifestyle."

"Right now, I'm down to around 260 pounds. My clothes fit better and I feel undeniably stronger, but the most rewarding and fun part of this entire process has been being able to keep up with my children, and be the best father, the best husband, and the best actor I can be," he told Men's Health. "I'm planning to lose 40 to 50 pounds in the next year or so. Maybe that will open me up to different kinds of roles, and I won't have to keep specifically playing these big guys. I'm not turning back this time. My health is here to stay."

Clearly, he's achieved that. In his most recent red carpet photo from the Balls Up premiere last month, Hauser looked extremely svelte. Clearly, he's been putting in the work!
