Sherie Rene Scott replacing Juliette Lewis in 'Rocky Horror'
June 16 (UPI) -- Three-time Tony nominee Sherie Rene Scott is replacing Juliette Lewis as Magenta in the Broadway musical, The Rocky Horror Show.
Lewis -- who is known for her film and TV work in projects like Yellowjackets, From Dusk Till Dawn, Cape Fear and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation -- will have her final performance in the role Tuesday, while Scott will take it over on June 26.
"It has been the honor of a lifetime to work with Sam Pinkleton, Ani Taj, Kris Kukul, Jane Cardona & this phenomenal cast on Richard O'Brien's Rocky Horror Show," Lewis wrote on Facebook Monday.
"Audiences universally leave the theatre all abuzz, loved up & invigorated! Because the talent and people assembled are so off the charts imbued with magic, commitment, and adventure, wild and human -I consider everyone in this cast family. I learned what real community looks and feels like," she said.
"I will miss everyone and I know the next performer is going to be astonishing. Everyone that is cast is a revelation. My eternal gratitude for Sam having faith in my abilities, I went from a newbie to a pro, and it was specifically because of the epic humans who showed me the way. And a special thanks to the incomparable Amber Gray, who I was glued to her side from day one, until we dance again...I will miss you all so very much but first, after 8 shows a week...let me tend to my knees!"
The musical began previews in March and officially opened April 23. It earned nine Tony nominations.
Lewis, 52, recently played a supporting role in Apple TV's re-imagining of Cape Fear.
