'Outlast: The Jungle' Winners Revealed After Betrayal and Tense Gender Dynamics

Competitors from different backgrounds went on Outlast: The Jungle to prove their survival skills in Panama and possibly win $1 million. Valuing men for their perceived strength is nothing new when it comes to survival reality shows and neither is betrayal.

The Netflix show's competitors repeatedly faced hard decisions between getting supplies and losing a team member. But only one team won the prize, and the fewer to split it, the better. Here is who won the season.

Who Won 'Outlast: The Jungle' and $1 Million?

Episode 8 was the finale of the season. Team Alpha and Bravo had to race through the jungle, guided by a map, to win the prize.

Team Alpha started this race with Leiya Pillitteri, Nikki Hru, and Maddy Jones. However, they were at a disadvantage after Team Bravo stole Leiya's boots. She was struggling, and the team voted her out on the first night of the race. Leiya shot her flare.

Team Bravo had Abby Chu and Pharaoh Gayles for the race. They were behind on the first day and the second.

Nikki and Maddy found a key in the jungle first. They reached a kayak and made it to shore with Team Bravo behind. They dug up a trunk and opened it with a key. There was a stick to light inside, they did it, solidifying their win.

"It feels like a movie, and our lives have completely changed," Nikki said in the episode. Maddy also asked her if it was real life as they looked at duffle bag of money.

"For Nikki and I to be the first two females to win this challenge, like this is my sister," Maddy said. "This is like--this is a person that I've suffered with. We have a bond that nobody else can fully understand."

Women winning is an interesting ending to a season when women were repeatedly voted out by their teams. The team was eliminated in the semifinal had multiple scenes of men arguing with women.

Team Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie had to compete for a spot in the finals in episode 7. That was determined through a challenge. They must build a fire, ignite an arrow, and shoot a flag. The first two teams will move forward in the game.

Team Bravo had Abby and Pharaoh for the competition. They previously eliminated Morgan Colburn in exchange for ferro rods to make a fire. They were the first to accomplish this.

Team Alpha had Leiya make the fire with Nikki's help. However, Leiya panicked, and Nikki worked hard to calm her down. They got fire and Maddy shot the flag with a fiery arrow.

Team Charlie was eliminated. That meant Braxton Fish, Wes Saunders, and Brett Johnson were going home. This is after they had multiple arguments with the women on their team. Wes and Sarah Awad got into an argument after she accused him of not helping enough with the shelter.

There were more arguments before they considered voting out Sarah. Leiya was hesitant of being the only woman left on the team, but the men pressured her to vote with them. Leiya did and the men got frustrated with her for not making a fire. She switched to Team Alpha with a boat before the men could vote her out.

Nikki cried after they eliminated Leiya. But it seems like the sacrifice helped them get the win.
