Tyra Banks Joins ‘Project Runway' Season 22 Cast Amid Netflix Lawsuit
Hulu just announced that Tyra Banksis joining the cast of Project Runway's Season 22 as a recurring guest judge. Banks' defamation lawsuit against Netflix recently put the America's Next Top Model host in the spotlight. And now it looks like fans will get to see more of the former supermodel.
Get ready for an action-packed season of fashion, fashion, fashion, and drama. Hulu released the official Season 22 trailer on June 18, featuring longtime judges Heidi Klumand Nina Garcia, season 4 winner designer Christian Siriano (returning as the contestants' mentor), and celeb stylist Law Roach.
In the sneak peek, Klum says, "I hope they like surprises," as Siriano announces, "We have a new judge. Entrepreneur and supermodel…Tyra Banks." The 22 contestants (yes, 22 for Season 22) break out in giddy cheers and applause.
While Tyra got a major reaction from the show's contestants (and of course, from fans too), she isn't the only famous face you'll see this season. The Hulu series has a celebrity-studded roster of guest judges, including Iman, Ciara, Ice Spice, Kiernan Shipka, Nina Dobrev, Niecy Nash, and Winnie Harlow. Look for additional cameos from formerSummer House stars Hannah Berner and Paige DeSorbo, as well as Becca Bloom, Nicky Campbell, Nara Smith, and The Devil Wears Prada 2 costume designer Molly Rogers.
But wait, there's more. Hulu is going big this season, bringing in Dancing with the Stars cast members Brandon Armstrong, Alan Bersten, Val Chmerkovskiy, Jenna Johnson, Emma Slater, Ezra Sosa, Britt Stewart, and Julianne Hough to walk the catwalk. And if you think that's star-packed enough, it isn't.
The Bachelorette's Charity Lawson, Love Thy Nader's Sarah Jane Nader, Vanderpump Villa's Ekin-Su, and Project Runway Season 21 winner Veejay Floresca also make guest appearances.
What do fans think of 'Project Runway' Season 22 with Tyra Banks?
Judging by Hulu's Instagram post of the trailer, it looks like the reviews are mixed. One fan gushed, "Yesssss Tyra! I'm so ready," while another posted, "BEST SEASON YET! I feel it."
But it doesn't look like everyone is on board with the new cast member. Another commenter added, "Can't wait to see the season but why Tyra?" and another said, "So not one judge is a designer?"
