Betty Crocker Giving Away 1 Million Cakes For America's 250th Anniversary
Betty Crocker is helping celebrate America's 250th anniversary!
General Mills, the parent company of Betty Crocker, announced it will give away 1 million free cakes in honor of the nation's birthday. And, they have made it super easy for any customer to get one.
Customers who purchase a participating Betty Crocker cake mix product starting on Thursday, June 18, can visit www.AmericasBirthday.BettyCrocker.com to submit a photo of the receipt for the chance to receive reimbursement up to $3.99.
"Betty Crocker is a true icon of the kitchen that has brought families together to celebrate and connect for generations. From birthdays and holidays to heartwarming everyday moments, with Betty, it's always a little more special," Luke Niethammer, Business Unit Director for Betty Crocker at General Mills, said in a statement.
"This summer, we're thrilled to be able to help families across America come together and celebrate this milestone. Because when it comes to celebrating life's special moments, Betty Crocker is always there to help."
The company also recently surveyed customers nationwide, trying to find out about the rankings of different kinds of cake. It was chocolate that ranked supreme, with 30% of consumers ranking it over the other flavors. 49 states also had it at the top of the list, with only Kentucky picking another flavor as No. 1 (red velvet).
51% of consumers also said that cake is the dessert they want most when it comes to a birthday celebration, with 39% clarifying that they prefer it to be homemade over bakery-made cakes (28%) and grocery store cakes (11%). 36% of people added that they also think sharing the cake with others is one of the most important parts of a birthday celebration. As for the favorite frosting, cream cheese ranked as the favorite flavor at 29%. 50% of people said the corner slice with two edges of frosting is the best piece.
