Watch: 'Ghosts' returns in trailer for 'Possession of Button House' movie

June 22 (UPI) -- Beloved BBC comedy Ghosts will live again in the new film Ghosts: The Possession of Button House.

Lionsgate UK released a trailer for the movie Monday featuring series creators, writers and stars Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond.

Ghosts originated as a TV series that had a five-season run on BBC One from 2019 to 2023. The show followed Alison (Charlotte Ritchie) and Mike (Kiell Smith-Bynoe), a young couple who move into Button House, a mansion inhabited by a group of ghosts.

In the teaser, a group of teens are seen breaking into an abandoned Button House, where they receive a botched message from the ghosts via a Ouija board.

Lolly Adefope, Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe join the cast in the "feature length family adventure."

Ghosts: The Possession of Button House opens in U.K. and Irish theaters Oct. 23.

The show inspired an American remake starring Rose McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar that concluded its fifth and final season on CBS in May.
