Gina Rodriguez Supports Justin Baldoni After Blake Lively Settlement
Justin Baldoni‘s former Jane the Virgin costar Gina Rodriguez showed her support after the actor broke his silence on his legal dispute with Blake Lively.
"♥️ love you friends. Por vida," Rodriguez, 41, wrote in the comments section after Justin, 42, and his wife, Emily Baldoni, issued an emotional statement via Instagram on Wednesday, July 8.
Fellow Jane the Virgin alum Brett Dier also voiced his appreciation for the couple, adding: "I love you guys ❤️❤️."
In their lengthy video, Justin spoke out for the first time about his and Emily's new normal.
"We have not done this in a while, so we have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years and it's not because we haven't had anything to say," Justin began. "Lord knows we have, but it just felt like every time we went to make a video like this where we wanted to speak, something was telling us not to. It just doesn't feel like the right time. We were talking about it and feeling into it and praying about it."
Justin went on to acknowledge the many "painful things" that were "spoken into existence" as a result of his lengthy legal battle with Lively, whom he worked with on the movie It Ends With Us.
"That created so much noise and we didn't want to add to the noise," he explained of why the couple stayed quiet. "We just wanted to let the justice system run its course."
Lively, 38, sued Justin in December 2024, accusing her It Ends With Us costar and director of sexual harassment and orchestrating an alleged smear campaign against her. Justin vehemently denied the allegations and subsequently countersued Lively. His lawsuit was dismissed by a judge in June 2025.
Lively and Justin ultimately reached a settlement out of court in May. Lively is requesting millions from Justin to cover her attorneys' fees and litigation costs.
Amid the drama, Justin and Emily have been focused on "healing."
"We are healing, and if you've ever been through something traumatic, you know that healing isn't linear," he said. "It looks different every day, and we have had to rethink for ourselves what is real and what matters and it's this, it's our family, it's our friends, it's our community [who] have been there for us, it's our faith."
Justin continued, "I think we're closer and more devoted and steadfast in our faith than we've ever been. Also, and this has been on both of our hearts, there were so many of you who, when we didn't have a voice, were our voice. … So many of you had discernment and you used your intuition and you trusted that, and you have given your time to fight for us. Thank you does not feel like enough, but we're here in large part because of so many of you and all of our friends and family."
The couple mentioned how important their faith was to them, with Justin adding, "One thing that we learned is that when God presses the reset button and everything else is stripped away, that's when love shows up. And we feel so loved."
