Brass Band Northwest performs at Old Town Park in Tacoma

Bring a blanket and lawn chair for one of the last outdoor concerts when Classical Tuesdays brings Brass Band Northwest to the stage in Old Town Park, 2350 N. 30th St., Tacoma. The band formed in 2002, is committed to sharing the sound of all-brass music in the tradition of the British brass band. Accomplished musicians play cornets, flugelhorns, alto horns, baritones, euphoniums, trombones and tubas plus percussion. The music begins at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and is free to the public.

Commencement Bay Haiku meets at King’s Books in Tacoma

Join Commencement Bay Haiku at this month’s meeting open to the public. Bring a page of three to five haiku or one page of haibun to read and get constructive suggestions. In addition, discussions will address aspects of haiku, haibun or haiga. The group meets the second Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. at King’s Books, 218 St. Helens Ave., Tacoma. Gentle Fitness class offered at the Center at Norpoint in Northeast Tacoma

If you’re looking to stay fit, then check out the Gentle Fitness to Stay Safe and Healthy senior fitness class. It will present an overview of the energy arts of Tai Ja Quan, Kigong, and Tai Chi. These fitness strategies promote moving for better balance; enhancing energy while learning to relax; reducing stress; and improving joint strength and range of motion.
