Drop in archery and beginning lessons at Skookum Archery Club
Practice your archery skills or come out to learn at the Drop In Archery sessions held at Skookum Archery Club, 11209 Shaw Road, Puyallup. Every Thursday, 6-7:30 p.m. and 7:30-9 p.m., through October, there is an introductory group archery lesson for ages 8 and older. Cost is $5 for each lesson and practice session, sign up online to save your spot. For more information, call 253-770-4177.
Free propagation workshop at Lakewold Gardens
For all you gardeners or those interested, come out for the free propagation workshop being held at Lakewold Gardens, 12317 Gravelly Lake Drive SW, Lakewood. The hands-on learning opportunity is open to the public and is being presented by Kathy Van Veen from Portland. She will teach the basic techniques used in woody plant material propagation, participants will practice the techniques and take home a cutting. It is 9 a.m.-noon Thursday. Travel stories by Pat O’Connor at Parkland Spanaway Library
Join traveler Pat O’Connor as he shares pictures and stories from his trip to Easter Island, Cape Horn, Chilean fjords and Iguassu Falls. He will be at the Parkland Spanaway Library, 13718 Pacific Ave., S., Tacoma at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The public event is free. For more information call 253-548-3304.
What’s happening at the Washington State Fair
Jake Owen and special guest A Thousand Horses will be performing in the concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Grand Stand. Tickets are $60-$100 and include fair admission.
Gate hours are 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, 9 a.m.-11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $12.50 adults, $9 ages 6-18 and seniors 62 and older, free for kids 5 and younger. Parking in the fair lots is $10 Mondays-Fridays and $15 Saturdays and Sundays.
Transit options include: Pierce Transit’s Fair Express service begins daily at 9:15 a.m. with the last trip leaving the fair at 11:30 p.m. Service is provided from the Tacoma Mall, Lakewood Towne Center and South Hill Mall; parking is free at these sites.
Fares are $2 one way for adults, $0.75 for seniors and disabled and youth 18 and younger. Up to four children, ages 13 and younger, may ride free when accompanied by a fare-paying customer.
