Comedian Sinbad performs at the Emerald Queen Casino
Sinbad has been making crowds laugh for more than 20 years with his standup comedy, on TV shows “A Different World” and “The Sinbad Show”, and in films such as “Necessary Roughness” and “Jingle All the Way.” He will be performing at 8:30 p.m. Friday (Sept. 25) at the Emerald Queen Casino, 2024 E. 29th St., Tacoma. Fall concert series kicks off at University Place
It’s the kick off of the UP for Arts Fall Concerts Series that pairs local playwrights, jewelers, singers, artists and musicians for a evening of sights and sounds. Held in the University Place Civic Building Atrium, 3609 Market St., University Place, the first concert will feature “Tales from the Great Northwest” featuring plays by Northwest Playwrights Alliance and will be paired with artist Claudia Wild. Additional concerts are Oct. 23 and Nov. 20. Tickets are $15 general admission and $5 for students. For more information, go to upforarts.org.
Soochow University students perform at UPS Wheelock Student Center
Enjoy the talent and performance of student dancers and musicians from Soochow University. They will be performing live at 5 p.m. Friday at the University of Puget Sound Wheelock Student Center, 1500 N. Warner St., Tacoma. It is free and open to the public.
Free Organ at Noon performance by Joseph Adam
Take a lunch break and listen to Joseph Adam, organist play as part of the Organ at Noon concert series. He will perform works by Elgar, Bach, Guilmant, and Handel at 12:05 p.m. Friday. Come out to the University of Puget Sound Kilworth Memorial Chapel, 1500 N. Warner St., Tacoma, for the free performance.
What’s happening at the Washington State Fair
Kool and the Gang will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Grand Stand. Tickets are $35-$60 and include fair admission.
Gate hours are 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, 9 a.m.-11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $12.50 adults, $9 ages 6-18 and seniors 62 and older, free for kids 5 and younger. Parking in the fair lots is $10 Mondays-Fridays and $15 Saturdays and Sundays.
Transit options include: Pierce Transit’s Fair Express service begins daily at 9:15 a.m. with the last trip leaving the fair at 11:30 p.m. Service is provided from the Tacoma Mall, Lakewood Towne Center and South Hill Mall; parking is free at these sites.
Bus fares are $2 one way for adults, 75 cents for seniors, disabled and youths 18 and younger. Up to four children, ages 13 and younger, may ride free when accompanied by a fare-paying rider.
