Greater Peninsula Cider Festival in Gig Harbor
Growing to 23 cideries and 100 varieties of cider offered, the Greater Peninsula Cider Festival is taking place starting at noon Saturday. There will also be live music including Driving Sideways, udapest West and Spare Thyme to name a few. There is a kid-friendly activities area as well. It’s all happening at Sehmel Homestead Park, 10123 78th Ave. SW, Gig Harbor. Tickets are $35. For more information call 253-514-6338.
Living history at Historic Fort Steilacoom in Lakewood
Step back in time at the Smithsonian Museum Day Live at Historic Fort Steilacoom. The fort will come alive as reenactors live and work as soldiers, officers, their wives, children and friends for the day from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. The free community event is at Historic Fort Steilacoom, 9601 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood.
Counting Crows plays WaMu Theater in Seattle
After gaining popularity with the release of its debut album, “August and Everything After,” Counting Crows has gone on to sell more than 20 million albums worldwide and received an Academy Award nomination for its song, “Accidentally in Love.” It’s “Somewhere Under Wonderland Tour” is coming to WaMu Theater, 1000 Occidental Ave. S., Seattle for a 7 p.m. concert Saturday. Joining them will be Citizen Cope and Hollis Brown. Tickets are $52-$72, and are available through Ticketmaster.
What’s happening at the Washington State Fair
Jason Derulo will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Grand Stand. Tickets are $40-$65 and include fair admission.
Gate hours are 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, 9 a.m.-11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $12.50 adults, $9 ages 6-18 and seniors 62 and older, free for kids 5 and younger. Parking in the fair lots is $10 Mondays-Fridays and $15 Saturdays and Sundays.
Transit options include: Pierce Transit’s Fair Express service begins daily at 9:15 a.m. with the last trip leaving the fair at 11:30 p.m. Service is provided from the Tacoma Mall, Lakewood Towne Center and South Hill Mall; parking is free at these sites.
Bus fares are $2 one way for adults, 75 cents for seniors, disabled and youths 18 and younger. Up to four children, ages 13 and younger, may ride free when accompanied by a fare-paying rider.
