Workshops and presentations delve into plants, pruning and more

It’s all about plants, trees, shrubs and terrariums this week at three presentations.

At the “How Plants Work” presentation, Linda Chalker-Scott shares the science of the plant world at 6 p.m. Tuesday. She will explain how plants tell time, how they move to follow the sun and capture food and why they change color. It is being held at the W.W. Seymour Conservatory, 316 G St., S. Tacoma. A $3 donation is requested

If you have plants you want to trim back and prune but are intimidated to do so then come out for the “Pruning Demystified” with Aaron Cady. He will cover basic pruning principles and provide information on pruning various types of shrubs, fruit trees and Japanese maples. It is at 6 p.m. Thursday also at the W.W. Seymour Conservatory in Tacoma. A $3 donation is requested.

Delve into the world of terrariums at the “Tiny Worlds: A Terrarium Workshop” from noon-2 p.m. Saturday. This workshop is led by conservatory staff providing hands-on guidance in creating your own tiny world. All supplies are included in the $45 fee. Registration is required by emailing wwseymour@tacomaparks.com.
