Two Edible Gardens Workshops on winterizing this week
It’s time for the final push in your gardening, so plan to take in the Edible Gardens Workshop Series: “Putting the Garden to Bed for the Winter.” Find out to winterize your garden so it is ready for spring with rich and healthy soil that is weed- and pest-free. There are two workshops this week: 6 p.m. Tuesday at the WSU Puyallup Victoria Room, 2607 W. Pioneer Ave., Puyallup, and 6 p.m. Thursday at the Parkland Spanaway Library, 13718 Pacific Ave. S., Tacoma. The classes are free, but registration is required. Author Dan Beers reads slightly scary stuff at local library
Come out for a little early Halloween fun and meet author Dan Beers. He has written “The Last House,” “Willowbrook,” “The Crossing” and “The Ghouls” and will be at the Parkland Spanaway Library, 13718 Pacific Ave. S., Tacoma. He will offer a series of slightly scary readings at 7 p.m. Tuesday. It is free and open to the public. For more information, call 253-548-3304.
New production ‘Waterfall’ plays through October at 5th Avenue Theatre
It’s your chance to take in a brand new production when the 5th Avenue Theatre, 1308 Fifth Ave., Seattle, brings “Waterfall A New Musical” to the stage. Based on the contemporary Thai novel “Behind the Painting,” the story is of a romance set in 1930s Thailand and Japan as the monarchy crumbles with Japan on the brink of war. The production marks the U.S. debut of Thai pop superstar Bie Sukrit as Noppon, the student at the center of the ill-fated affair. It is running through Oct. 25. Ukulele lovers come together for singalong and fun
Find a place to share your love of the ukulele at the Ukulele Singalong Circus. Players, singers and observers are welcome from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Studio 6 Ballroom, 2608 Sixth Ave., Tacoma. Admission is $8 to cover the rental of the ballroom. For more information, go to singingbarista.wix.com.
